Design Brief - BP Oil Spill Introduction
On April 20, 2010, an offshore drilling rig exploded and started one of the largest natural disasters in the history of the Gulf region of the U.S. The impact of this one single event and the subsequent oil spill that occurred may forever change the economic and political landscape of the Gulf States. Due to the rapidly changing events and broad impact of the spill, the World Wide Web has played a huge role in telling the tale of this ongoing crisis. In the links above you will find information on all of the events related to the BP Oil Rig Disaster. A timeline of the most important events can be found by clicking on the Timeline link at the top of the page.
Mote Marine Laboratory InterviewAs part of our research, the web design team visited Mote Marine in Sarasota, Florida, and spoke with the head of Community Education, Brad Tanner. Mr. Tanner explained the effects of the oil spill on the marine environment and how Mote Marine was helping with the aftermath of the spill. We had a chance to visit the entire facility and talk to not only Mr. Tanner, but many of the support personnel that were working directly with the animals. |
